Built for prayer and formation
Saint James Chapel was dedicated in 1918 within Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary. Inspired by Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, its French Gothic Revival design brought soaring stonework, intricate carving, and luminous stained glass to the center of Chicago.
The chapel is dedicated

The windows are completed
Painted antique English glass fills the nave, sanctuary, and west-facing rose window.
National recognition
The chapel is placed on the National Register of Historic Places following the restoration of its windows.
A renewed building
The former seminary reopens as Archbishop Quigley Center after a comprehensive renovation.
A living sacred place
The chapel serves Archdiocesan liturgies, Catholic weddings, reserved events, and occasional concerts.
