Saint James Chapel is located within the Archbishop Quigley Center, the former home of Quigley Preparatory Seminary. Its French Gothic Revival architecture, Caen stone altar, and extraordinary stained glass make the chapel a work of art. Its first purpose, however, remains sacred worship.

A century of prayer and formation
From 1918 until Quigley Seminary closed in 2007, generations of seminarians prayed and were formed here. The building reopened as the Archbishop Quigley Center after an extensive restoration. Today, the chapel serves reserved Archdiocesan liturgies, Catholic weddings, and occasional concerts. It is not a parish and is not open for public daily prayer.
The windows
More than 700,000 pieces of antique English glass form the chapel’s celebrated windows. Their biblical scenes and deep, jewel-like color have made them one of Chicago’s distinctive artistic treasures.
